Summary Description

 

The Business Intelligence Developer plans, directs, and coordinates project activities to ensure that established goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with prescribed priorities.  Where applicable, advises, makes recommendations, and exercises independent judgment in the course of carrying out overall responsibilities.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

 

  • Work with Business Analysts to understand functional requirements in order to design ETL and reporting processes
  • Utilized report design skills to translate function requirements into useful reporting and analysis
  • Troubleshoot issues during ETL development
  • Develop and execute unit test plans

 

Required Skills and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required with emphasis in business information systems or computer science
  • Experience translating functional requirements into useful reporting and analysis
  • 3+ years’ experience with ETL, Data Warehousing and Data Mart design and development
  • 3+ years development experience using Informatica Power Center (including 2 years of v 9.x or higher) for design, development and performance tuning
  • 3+ years developing complex business rules and data quality logic sourcing data from multiple platforms and formats into a targeted database(s)
  • 3+ years’ troubleshooting existing ETL programs and workflows in a production environment
  • 3+ years’ experience defining and conducting performance testing and tuning of ETL programs and databases
  • Experience writing SOL queries to validate reports and research data
  • Experience using Open Source Report Tools (BIRT, Pentaho, Jaspersoft)
  • Ability to write file manipulation scripts and setup scheduling in a Windows environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications with strong emphasis on MS Excel, MS Word and MS Visio

 

Optional Skills and Experience

  • Informatica Certified Professional
  • Experience with Cognos 10 and later suite of tools on Windows as both Report Developer and Business Analyst
  • Experience in creation of dimensional and relational models using IBM Cognos Framework Manager and Transformer cubes
  • Experience in Dashboards, Scorecards, and Reports using Report Studio
  • Experience working with business users to design and develop correct, well­
  • performing Cognos reports, frameworks and cubes using Report, Event, Query, Analysis, and Metric Studio with data drill-down and slice & dice capabilities
  • Experience using Tableau
  • Experience using an RDMS – preferably Oracle 12c
  • Experience using Java
  • Knowledge in OLTP/OLAP and ODS systems
