The ultimate goal of information technology (IT) within an
education environment is to ensure every student, teacher,
and administrator has access to the appropriate technology
resources necessary to support and enhance the instructional
experience with positive outcomes. Successful integration of
IT throughout the organizational enterprise supports this goal.
Hardware, software, infrastructure, and support services must
be appropriate to the instructional goals of the institution and
must be reliable. Support processes must be in place so that
inevitable failures are quickly resolved with minimal impact on
instruction and operations. Teachers and administrators must
also have the appropriate training and professional
development in the use and integration of technology within
the curriculum.
